With no hardware or software required, this solution frees up IT resources and provides users with rapid and secure access to email from their inbox, any supported Web browser or hand held device.

Our email archiving service provides unlimited storage and retention for your emails with quick and easy search and retrieval. Internal and external emails are automatically captured and transmitted to be securely stored in redundant off-site data centers.

End users benefit from access to every email they have sent or received from within their familiar email client. Intuitive features allow them to rapidly search and restore emails and attachments with no need for IT support. E-discovery and legal holds can be easily conducted whilst collaborative review and categorization features help cull large volumes of email.

How Enterprise Vault.cloud works

The Symantec Enterprise Vault.cloud service securely stores all emails sent or received by your email server in offsite data centers, freeing you from the expense and effort involved in storing and managing huge amounts of email in-house.



  • Service activated by Symantec.cloud and welcome email sent to customer
  • Customer uses Active Directory integration tool to import user lists & schedule automatic synchronization of new users
  • Open firewall to Symantec.cloud data centre IPs
  • Create journaling contact, create SMTP connector, configure TLS and activate journaling
  • As email is sent and received within the primary email system, a copy of each message (including internal email) is sent to the data center
  • Email and attachments are de-duplicated and securely stored along with relevant metadata
  • Mail can easily be retrieved from the hosted archive by users within the company

System Requirements

As a cloud based service, Symantec Enterprise Vault.cloud does not require any mandatory on premise hardware or software. There are optional features including Active Directory integration and Folder Synchronization which do require on premise software components.

  • Microsoft .NET Framework version 3.5 SP1 or greater
  • Microsoft Exchange 2003 server SP1 with WebDAV enabled
  • Microsoft Exchange 2007 server SP1 with Exchange Web Services enabled

For Folder Synchronization:

  • Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP3 or Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1
  • Microsoft Outlook 2003, 2007 or 2010
  • HTTPS Internet access (to send synchronizations to the archiving service)
