Configurable to your needs, Email Content Control.cloud helps to reduce the risk of data loss and enables you to establish and enforce an acceptable use policy so that employee email use can be more productive.

Easy to setup and maintain, the service harnesses a range of technologies to enable the email body, subject and header to be analysed, as well as text within supported Microsoft Office and PDF attachments. Email messages and attachments can be scanned for keywords, phrases, URL lists or alphanumeric formulas (such as credit card numbers), all at the administrator’s discretion. Email that triggers a rule is subjected to a range of actions including block, delete or redirect. Meanwhile, approved email messages continue to pass through to their intended recipients as usual.

  • Inbound and outbound email is directed via Symantec.cloud, where it is scanned
  • Administrators set up rules in keeping with their acceptable use policy, using the Symantec.cloud Web-based portal
  • Email which triggers a rule is subjected to a range of actions including: block/delete, redirect to administrator, copy to administrator, tag header, tag subject line, log only, and compress attachment
  • Email which does not trigger a rule passes through to its intended recipient

A: Yes. The Email Content Control.cloud Service scans within MS Office documents for words and phrases or regular expressions.

Q: Does Email Content Control scan within PDF documents as well as the email?
A: Yes, The Email Content Control.cloud service scans within PDF documents that have been converted from text or converted through an optical character recognition program prior to scanning. Our service will look inside these PDFs for words and phrases or regular expressions.

Q: Does Email Content Control automatically scan within archive files such as ZIP and RAR for file types?
A: Yes, if you set up a rule to detect specific file types or content, Email Content Control will look inside the archive files to see if the file type or content are hidden in there. If I am sent a spoofed file, for example, an XLS file renamed with a DOC extension, is the Email Content Control service able to pick this up? A: Yes. If the spoofed file is malicious, it will already have been detected by the Symantec.cloud AntiVirus service. However if the file is simply spoofed, then the Email Content Control service can be configured to detect this within the Attachment tab.

A: Yes, this service can be effectively combines with Symantec.cloud services for Email AntiVirus, Email AntiSpam, Email Image Control, and Email Policy Based Encryption to provide comprehensive security, protection, and control for inbound and outbound email communications.

A: Our services synchronize with your Active Directory to acquire groups, users, email addresses, aliases, and distribution lists.

Q: How does the pricing model work?
A: All Symantec.cloud services are based on per user, per month subscription, plus a one-off minimal set-up fee. You simply pay a fixed monthly cost based on the number of users connected. Each service can be purchased separately or you can bundle multiple services to provide complete security protection.
