New Service Alert - Instant Messaging Security Service
MessageLabs is pleased to announce the forthcoming release of Instant Messaging Security Service (IMSS). We are already seeing an interest amongst our customers for this service which will provide an affordable, effective solution to a real and growing problem faced by businesses today.
What does IMSS do?
IMSS allows organizations to safely use public IM clients such as Microsoft’s MSN, Yahoo’s Mail and AOL’s AIM by providing anti-virus, URL filtering, Content Control and logging services.
Why do you need it?
Use of public IM clients – both authorized and unauthorized - has been growing steadily in organizations of all sizes. These feature rich clients can be a useful business tool providing instant text and audio communications, file exchange and collaboration between teams and with external customers and suppliers.
In order to safely use public IM clients for business communications however, IT Managers need to be able to provide similar levels of threat protection, content control rules and logging capabilities as they would for Email or Web traffic.
How does it work?
Similar to Email and Web services, a client’s internal and external IM traffic is routed through MessageLabs infrastructure where it will be scanned for malware and URL filters and Content Control rules will be applied. All communications are logged and Administrator reports are available via ClientNet.
